Salem Police have released further details on the arrest of 31-year-old Garrett Horton of Cedar Street in Salem. He was taken to the Marion County Jail for unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and aggravated battery to a police officer. Police say they were called to the Starlight Mobile Home Park at 8:15 Sunday morning to a report of a fight. Horton allegedly aggressively came towards the responding officer and was taken into custody when reportedly threatening to hit another woman. As police were trying to take him into custody he allegedly slapped the hands and grabbed the wrist of the officer to try and prevent being handcuffed. A pair of brass knuckles was allegedly found in his possession.
Salem Police arrested 55-year-old Haffen Amniser of Lynnwood Drive in Salem for aggravated battery to a child and two counts of domestic battery to two other children. Police report they were called after the incident occurred at Amniser’s home. An 11-year-old boy was allegedly struck in the face and had minor cuts but no hospitalization. 12 and 13-year-old females were also allegedly struck in the altercation.
Two others were arrested for domestic battery following separate incidents. 41-year-old Amber Chappell of Jackson Street in Junction City was arrested by Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies while 56-year-old James Miller of Locust Street in Centralia was arrested by Centralia Police. Both remain in the Marion County Jail pending a final decision on charges.
