The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports one person was injured in a two vehicle crash early Sunday evening at the Green Street and Bell Club Roads.
Reports indicate a car driven by a 16-year-old female juvenile from Effingham was making a left hand turn from westbound Green Street Road onto Bell Club Road when a vehicle behind her attempted to pass. 37-year-old Ramiro Morales of South Sycamore crashed into the driver’s side of the juvenile’s car. The impact caused her car to spin out and leave the southwest side of the intersection striking a fire hydrant. Morales car came to rest on the roadway.
The Centralia Fire Protection District assisted the juvenile in getting out of her car before she was transported to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for treatment.
Morales and a 17-year-old male juvenile passenger in the female juvenile’s car escaped injury.
The crash occurred around six Sunday evening.
