Stanley J. Pokojski, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the age of 92.

Born on October 28, 1932 in Centralia, the son of Stanley J. Pokojski and Dorothy (Verble) Pokojski. Stanley married Doris Phillips on May 4, 1959 and she survives in Centralia.

Stanley graduated from Centralia Township High School with the Class of 1950. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call of duty by enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He served bravely during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953, embodying the values of honor and dedication that he carried throughout his life. From 1954 – 1960 he worked as a Union Carpenter. Later on he served for 20 years as a Sergeant for the Centralia Police Department and then shuttled vehicles for LTD Ford until his retirement. In 2015, he attended Rend Lake College to achieve his UAV License. On July 11, 1958, Stanley started his journey as a Mason and was a member of the Centralia Masonic Lodge 201. A man of deep faith, Stanley was an active member of the Central City Baptist Church, where he will be fondly remembered for his kindness and service to others.

Stanley’s love and commitment were profound; he was married for 66 years to his devoted wife, Doris Pokojski, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories. He was a proud and loving father to his son, Matthew Pokojski and his wife Beth, and his daughter, Christa Pokojski, all of whom reside in Centralia. He also cherished his role as grandfather to his beloved grandson, Tyler Pokojski and wife Madeline of Fairfield.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and his infant son, Gregory James Pokojski.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at the Central City Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Mike Hall officiating. Burial will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia.
