The Illinois Comptroller’s Office has made arrangements with the now closed Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home to have its pre-need funeral records moved to a licensed pre-need funeral provider.

The move is the result of Hugh Moran agreeing to give up his funeral business and never be employed in the death care industry again due to unsanitary conditions found in the funeral home.

Hugh and Leslie Moran chose Macz Funeral Homes to take those records with concurrence from the Comptroller’s Office.

Macz Funeral Homes worked with the Moran’s to contact families that were impacted by this.  Macz Funeral Home mailed letters in March, April and May to the families informing them that their pre-need funeral records were being held at Macz Funeral Homes and to contact Tom or Traci Macz for help in transferring their pre-need funeral contract to Macz Funeral Homes or a different licensed pre-need funeral providers of their choice.

Illinois Office of Comptroller Legal Counsel Sara Wooley would like consumers to know they are there to protect them.

The Pre-Need Licensing and Certification Enforcement division of the Illinois Office of Comptroller licenses funeral homes to sell and hold pre-need funeral contracts.

Consumers who would like more information about their rights under the pre-need funeral contract can call the Comptroller’s Office PLACE division hotline at 1-877-203-3401 or email them at PLACE@illinoiscomproller.gov or contact Macz Funeral Homes at (618) 532-5511 for assistance.
