The small school softball regional semifinals are also today. In 1a at Edwards County, Odin/Patoka/Sandoval opens up against Grayville in the 2nd game at 6pm following Edwards County and Wayne City at 4.
Christ Our Rock will also open up regional play today with a trip to Okawville to take on Woodlawn at 4:30.
Also at Hutsonville, Dieterich takes on conference rival Windsor/Stew-Stras, Nokomis hosts Mulberry Grove, Waltonville hosts NCOE.
In 2a, Harrisburg and West Frankfort play at Anna, Pana and TTown from St Anthony, Fairfield hosts Carmi against Mt Carmel followed by the hosts against Hamilton County. Roxana and Staunton play at Gillespie, Red Bud and Pinckneyville at Johnston City. Columbia will play today at Wesclin in one semifinal with Wesclin and Central in the 2nd game. At Vandalia, Mater Dei will take on Hillsboro with Murphysboro and Chester playing at Zeigler.
The 1a regionals opened last night with South Central moving on with a home win over St Elmo/Brownstown 15-1. They will play Red Hill in the title game after they held on to beat North Clay 11-10.
In 2a play yesterday, St Anthony won at home over Sullivan 17-2. Ava Parish hit a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 5th to give Gillespie a 3-2 win over Piasa. Carlyle needed 10 innings but beat Litchfield 5-4 at Vandalia. Wood River beat Althoff 18-4.
