Ann L. Tate, a lifelong resident of Centralia, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on February 22, 1942, in Centralia, Ann was the daughter of Lester Tinsley and Audrey (Beyerbach) Tinsley. She married Charles “Bud” Wilber Tate and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2009.

Ann was a dedicated employee of Walmart, where she worked as an Assistant Manager for 28 1/2 years. Her colleagues remember her as a reliable and compassionate leader who always had a smile and a helpful word for everyone.

She was an active member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church, where she found joy and fulfillment in her faith and fellowship with others. Ann was known for her unwavering devotion to her family and her commitment to her church community.

Ann is survived by her loving daughters, Julia Clark and her husband Loren Clark of Centralia, Susan Spinner and her husband Steve Spinner of Centralia, Barbara Wimberly and her husband Tony Wimberly of Kinmundy, and Lori Stephens and husband Clay Stephens of Centralia. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Eugene Hawkins and his wife Mary L. Hawkins of Centralia; her sister, Patricia Hill of Centralia; grandchildren, Dan Tate and wife Jessica, Jacob Squibb and wife Jaimie, Seth Spinner, Shelbie Spinner, Jared Wimberly and wife Destiny, Caleb Wimberly and wife Diamond, Molly Thompson and significant other Austin Shidle, Ashley Stephens, Kierston Stephens and Brittany Stephens; great-grandchildren, Jackson Tate, Lilly Ann Tate, Wyatt Squibb, Waylon Squibb, Harlow Bain, Kingston Fletcher, Amari Shidle, Ariah Shidle, Jayce Stephens and Kayden Stephens and numerous nephews and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Audrey (Beyerbach) Tinsley; her beloved husband, Bud Tate; her parents-in-law, Bernice and Ora Tate; her sisters-in-law, Jean Foltz, Sharon Tate, Elaine Pitts and Martha Jean Tate; brothers-in-law Joe Tate, Paul Pitts and Jack Hill; nephews Rocky Pitts and John Pitts.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Her funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 15, at 11:00 AM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Kevin Tate officiating. Ann will be laid to rest following the service at Antioch Cemetery in Centralia.

Ann L. Tate will be remembered for her enduring spirit, her dedication to her family and community, and her boundless generosity. She will be dearly missed but, forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew her.
