The IHSA girls soccer post season began in Class 1a yesterday with regional openers.
Mater Dei beat Wood River 12-0 at Metro East Lutheran. Roxana beat the hosts 5-0. At Greenville, the host Comets earned a 1-0 win over Piasa. Althoff shutout Mt Carmel 9-0 and Gibault 8-0 over Massac County.
In 1a regional play today, DuQuoin plays at Columbia followed by Murphysboro and Pinckneyville. At Father McGivney today, the hosts take on Maryville Christian followed by Breese Central and Wesclin at noon.
