2025 05/10 – Rick L. Vail

Rick L. Vail, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, at the age of 71.

Rick was born on May 25, 1953 in Effingham, the son of Ralph and Florence (Smith) Vail.  He married Beverly Winn of Effingham a DEVOTED wife of 51 years and she survives in Centralia.

In addition to his wife; he leaves behind his three loving children, Rod Vail and wife Courtney of Iuka, Robby Vail and wife Kamy of Walnut Hill, and Brandy Quandt and husband Jason of Iuka; five grandchildren which he dearly loved and enjoyed spending time with, Liam Vail, Riley Beard, Brason Quandt, Jaylen Quandt, and Brylen Quandt; siblings, Rex Vail and wife Karla of Symsonia, KY and Candi Foster of Clarksville, TN; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Florence Vail.

Throughout his 71 years he built a legacy of friendships.  Rick was a jokester, gave friends and family nicknames, and had a massive sense of humor.  He loved entertaining, grilling out, cooking, camping, and riding horses.  He enjoyed watching Westerns and Cardinal games.  Rick was a salesman for several dealerships, a truck driver, musician, and golfer.  He cherished the time he spent deer hunting with his sons and grandsons, visiting Gatlinburg with his family and friends, and enjoyed the musical talents of his grandchildren.  He was a proud Papa and father.

Memories of Rick will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.  His legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to be a part of his life.

Funeral Services for Rick Vail will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Don Wallace officiating.  A time to visit with family will be held from 11:00 am until the time of the service.  Interment will be in Paradise Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family or to New Bethel Church and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home.  Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com
