Jason Haas, age 45 of Salem, passed away on May 5, 2025, at Salem Township Hospital.

Jason was born on December 2, 1979, in Centralia, Illinois, the son of Rodney Gene and Jean (Brown) Haas. He married Jennifer (Schryer) Haas on February 11, 2022, and she survives in Salem. Other survivors include his children, Makenzie Tharp of Mechanicsville, MD, Hunter Haas and Jayleigh Haas, both of Memphis, TN; step-daughter, Madison Miller of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Mathew Haas and wife Kelly of Salem, Josh Coleman of MO, Andrew Haas and fiancé Tabitha Dolan, and James Ervin and fiancé Shenna Adam of Springfield; aunts, Tina Chappell and husband John of Salem, Kathleen Brown of Belleville, and Rhonda Haas Sprehe of Mt. Vernon; uncles, Jim Brown of Salem and Rick Haas of New Baden; cousins, Justin Black and girlfriend Hannah, Becky Vosholler and husband Tyler and their two children with another on the way, Baylee Black and fiancé Robby Smith, Rachel Orrell and husband Travis and their children, Kaitlyn O’Dell and husband Dakota and their children, and Tim Carlson; a sister-in-law, Christine James and her children, Kyrsten and Carson; and two his two kitties, Kali and Lucky. Jason was preceded in death by his father, Rodney Gene Haas; mother and step-father, Jean Oulrey and husband Terry; Grandma and Grandpa Haas; Grandma Daenzer; Grandpa Brown; uncles, Robert Haas, Richard “Ed” Black and Bill Spradlin; aunt, Patty Carlson; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Paula Schryer.

Jason was employed at Walmart as a night stocker. He loved camping and being outdoors, especially the time he spent at Forbes Lake and Carlyle Lake with his wife and best friend. He enjoyed a variety of music, especially classic rock.

A Celebration of Life for Jason Haas will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Denise Burke officiating. A time to visit with the family will be held from 4:00 pm, followed by the service at 5:00 pm.
