A 23-year-old Centralia man has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty in Marion County Court on Tuesday to a charge of possession of under five grams of methamphetamine.

Jonathon Altom of South Brookside was also ordered to serve six months mandatory supervised release and given credit for 111 days already served in the Marion County Jail.   He was eligible for an extended term sentence due to a prior Jefferson County felony conviction.   Under the law, he will be required to serve at least 50 percent of the prison time.

The five year sentence will run concurrently with one handed down on April first in Clinton County Court on forgery, bad check, and retail theft charges. Altom was also fined $1,500 and ordered to make $658 restitution in the Clinton County case.
