A lifelong resident of Carlyle, Jesse was born on December 24, 1933, to James J. and Mildred (Kolmer) Taylor. Jesse married Sharon Shaw on January 28, 1956, and together they had five children. He later married Rose Cooley, who survives him.
In addition to his wife Rose, Jesse is survived by his children: Victor Taylor (special friend Julia Wysocki) of Carlyle, Mark (Jacqueline) Taylor of Benton, IL, Cindy (Bert) Behnke of Gilbert, Arizona, Lydia (Mike) Clark of Athens, Alabama, and Terri (Robert) Newkirk of Carlyle. He is also survived by his stepchildren: James Anthony of Carlyle and Lori Trame of Beckemeyer. Jesse leaves behind a brother, Robert (Connie) Taylor of Cabot, Arkansas; three sisters, Ilene (Ray) Allison of Chester, IL, Darlene (Donnie) Hegger of Aviston, IL, and Nancy (Chris) Weckler of Trenton, IL; and two sisters-in-law, Margie Taylor and Patricia Taylor. He was a proud grandfather to twenty-two grandchildren and was blessed with numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth Taylor; his stepchildren Danny Anthony and Lisa George; sisters Mildred “Sis” Lampe and husband Dave, and Phyllis Schniers and husband Bernell; brothers Roy and wife Louise Taylor, Jack Taylor, and Charles Taylor; and a great-great-grandson, Owen Lorenz.
Jesse was a self-employed painter for many years, and earlier in life worked as a mechanic and truck driver. He was known for his dedication to his family, storytelling, and love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Above all, he was happiest spending time with his grandchildren and helping those around him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
