Mary Hutton, aged 88 of Dix, passed away peacefully at home with her family, on March 17, 2025.
Born October 11th, 1936, to parents Arthur and Laura Lau in St. Joseph, Missouri, Mary enjoyed her childhood with her brother (Charles) and sister (Carol). In her early teens, Mary worked in the local pharmacy as a “soda jerk” and later as a telephone switchboard operator.
On February 14th, 1959, she married Dr. Robert Hutton and they had two children. She worked as a medical technologist for the United States Army and later at Belleville Memorial Hospital for many years, until she retired.
Mary was a member of the Boyd Christian Church. She was a dedicated career woman, homemaker, and Air Force wife. Her passions were cooking, gardening, and taking care of everyone who entered her orbit. She also enjoyed feeding birds and Bible study with her friends and neighbors.
She is survived by her children, Duffy (wife Sarah) and Holly (husband Mike) and five grandchildren: Connor, Riley, Rory, Olivia, and Elli. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hutton, siblings Charles and Carol, and granddaughter, Katelyn Hutton.
A private burial service for Mrs. Hutton will be held at Boyd Cemetery. Her family will be hosting a memorial service at Boyd Christian Church on Saturday afternoon, April 19th, 2025.
