Jefferson County Deputies arrest two when investigating theft of anhydrous ammonia

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department arrested two men on Friday following what started as an investigation into the theft of anhydrous ammonia in rural Texico.

The investigation of the theft in the 15,600 block of East Baseline Road led to a search warrant being issued for a home at 17,413 East Divide Road where evidence of the theft was observed.

The primary resident, 41-year-old Eric Powell, was arrested for alleged armed violence, felon in possession of a firearm, illegal transportation of anhydrous ammonia, use of property (Methamphetamine), possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with anhydrous ammonia in an unauthorized container.

Another person at the home, 43-year-old Jeffrey Woods of Centralia, was arrested for alleged felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, and on a Marion County failure to appear warrant.

Both Powell and Woods were transported to the Jefferson County Jail to await further action.
