The Marion County Farm Bureau will celebrate ‘National Ag Day’ and the affordability of food in America at its annual Ag Day Breakfast on Tuesday morning at the Farm Bureau building on Route 37 North in Salem.

A breakfast of scrambled eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, orange juice, and milk will be available for dine-in or carry-out from six to nine am.  There is no charge to attend, but donations will be accepted to support the organization’s scholarship and Agriculture in the Classroom programs.

Marion County Farm Bureau Manager Brad Conant says the purpose of the breakfast is to demonstrate the value of food in America and the role that agriculture plays in providing it.  He notes not only is America’s food supply the world’s safest, but it’s also the most affordable.  Conant says the safe, abundant, and affordable domestic food supply produced by America’s farmers and ranchers is responsible, at least in part, for our nation’s increasing standard of living.  Compared to food, Americans work longer each year to pay for their housing, federal taxes, and medical care.

Everyone is invited to the Tuesday breakfast.
