Teoné Mercedes Jones 33, of Chicago, IL formerly of Centralia, IL transitioned this life into the arms of our Savior on February 20, 2025. She was born to the proud parents of Darwin C. Jones Sr. and Amy Mashburn in Centralia, IL.
Teoné’s life was a beautiful canvas painted with love, strength, and courage, which she fearlessly displayed until the very end. Though her time here was cut short, the memories of her beautiful smile and sweet humble spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of those whose lives were affected by just knowing her. “Nugget”, as she was lovingly called by her Granny Agnes, will continue to be remembered through her three sons she blessed us with. She fought diligently to provide a promising future for her children. They will carry testimony of undying love for them.
Teoné graduated from Bronville Scholastics and then attended Kaskaskia College where she obtained her degree in cosmetology. She was currently enrolled in Illinois Media Broadcast School, pursuing a degree in Media Technology.
Teoné is survived by her parents, Darwin C. Jones Sr. and Amy (Richard) Green. Other survivors include her children, Darrius Gaters, Tristan Gaters, and Maddox Bausley; brothers, Darwin Jones Jr (Keny’a), Tremain Mashburn (Patricia), Malik Wilson (Myanna), Charles Wilson and Micheal Jones,; sisters, Veronica S. Jones and Tacura Jones; bonus siblings include, Bethani, Breyanna, Brodric (Ashley), Breona, Xavier and Brandon; nephews, Jon’Tae, Darwin, Khaly; nieces, Jasmine, Leia, and Allyna. She was a host of many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Allen and Verna Hixenbaugh; grandparents, Jody and Robert Mashburn and Agnes Jones.
A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Leak and Sons Funeral Home 18400 Pulaski RD in Country Club Hills, Illinois 60478. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025, at New Covenant Church in Centralia with Fay Webster officiating and special music by Cedric Webster. Friends and relatives are welcome to a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Teoné ’s honor to her mother, Amy Green to help with the care of Teoné’s children. Irvin Macz Funeral Homes in Centralia is honored to be helping the family with services.
