2025 03/14 – Diana Lynn Howell

Diana Lynn Howell, 73, of Kell, passed away Monday morning March 10th, 2025.

Diana was born June 8th, 1951, in Centralia, the daughter of Ezra Aussieker and Gladys (Chambers) Aussieker.  She married Paul Howell October 10th, 1970, in Centralia and he preceded her in death May 24th, 2013.

Mrs. Howell was an active member of the 1st Christian Church of Odin where she enjoyed taking part in the activities of her women’s group.  She worked for many years at Centralia Manor as a dietary technician and caregiver.  Besides the caregiving at the Manor, she became the unofficial caregiver for her family where she cared for several of her family members.  She was a great Cardinals fan and animal lover and had rescued her latest pet, Candy.  She loved her family time and especially time watching westerns with her grandson, Matthew.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt.

Diana is survived by her children: Jeff Howell and wife Lori of Odin; Scott Howell of Sesser; Amy Ferguson of Morehead Ky; Heather Smith of Kell and by Grandchildren: Alex and wife Sara Young of Florence Al; Tommy and Kelsie Young of Odin; Matthew Smith of Kell; and by great grandchildren: Lexie, Darcie, Hunter, Gracie, Trenton, and Nora.

She is also survived by one brother, Gary Aussieker and wife Bonnie of Bartelso, brother and sister-in-law Chuck and Charlotte Lyons;  two sisters: Marilyn Wesselman of Troy, Il,  and Judy Reichenbacher and husband Greg of Centralia.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul: her parents: Ezra and Gladys; by a brother: Robert Aussieker; Mother and Father-in-law: Fred and Loriece Howell; Sister-in-law: Mary Redman; Brothers-in-law: Danny Howell and Ben Wesselman; and by son-in-law: Gary Ferguson and niece Melonie Redman.

Funeral Services for Diana Lynn Howell will be held Friday March 14th, 2025, at 11:00 am at the 1st Christian Church of Odin with Pastor Chris White officiating.  Burial will follow at Deadmond Cemetery near Odin.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the funeral hour.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
