Today is the opening day of the IHSA State Girls Basketball Tournament at CEFCU Arena in Normal. The 1a semifinals start at 9:30 with Altamont making their first ever trip to state, led by Illinois State recruit and 2,000 point scorer Grace Nelson, take on Illini Bluffs.
The other semifinal will see the Okawville Lady Rockets taking on Peru St. Bede at 11:15. The losers will play this evening at 6:30 for third place with the winners advancing to Saturday’s championship day.
In 2a, Nashville will take the court at 3:45 this afternoon against Robinson following the first semifinal between Regina Dominican and Peoria Notre Dame at 2. The 3rd place game is tonight at 7:45.
Tomorrow is the 3a semifinals with Chatham Glenwood and Hinsdale South followed by Lombard Montini and undefeated Lincoln. The 4a semifinals will see Waubonsie Valley against Nazareth Academy and Loyola Academy taking on Palatine Fremd.
