Fire has destroyed a 40 by 40-foot pole barn on the Bart Rainey property between Mt. Vernon and Woodlawn.
Jefferson Fire says the barn off East Casey Pike was fully engulfed upon their arrival. The barn and the items stored inside, including a golf cart, mower, and four-wheelers, were a total loss.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
The fire call came in at 8 pm. Firemen were on the scene for about two and a half hours.
Jefferson Fire was assisted at the scene by Mt. Vernon, Woodlawn, Kell, and the Centralia Fire Protection District. Bluford and Waltonville stood by at the Jefferson Fire Station in the event of another fire.
