Salem Police have arrested a 51-year-old Salem man for alleged domestic battery. William Phillips of South Castle was taken into custody after police were called to his home. He was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a decision on the filing of formal charges.
Sandoval Police arrested 20-year-old Martin Melton of Kell Street in Centralia for alleged misdemeanor theft. He’s accused of taking a transmission of a car from the front porch of a home in the 500 block of North Willow Street in Sandoval on Sunday afternoon.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department has recovered a stolen car. The car was reported stolen around 5:30 Saturday evening from a home in the 5600 block of Route 37 north of Salem near Basom Road. The car was found stuck in a field off Gesell Road near the Log Cabin Village east of Kinmundy early Sunday morning. Deputies say the vehicle was not damaged. No one was around it when it was first reported to the sheriff’s office.
