It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Billy Irvin Finley, who departed this life on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on Tuesday, August 10, 1948, in Centralia, Illinois, Billy was a beloved member of the Centralia community, where he lived a life full of love, service, and dedication.
Billy proudly served his country in the United States Army, and he later dedicated his career to serving the community as a mail carrier. He was known for his warm smile, unwavering work ethic, and his kind interactions with all those on his daily route.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, William and Ethel Finley; his cherished wife, Sandra Finley; his infant brother, Robert Finley; his brother, Terry Finley; and his grandsons, Blade and Cole Eaker.
Billy leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his sons, Mitchell Finley, Billy Irvin Jr., and Richard Finley, all of Centralia; Jason Rhynes and wife Heather of Salem, and Allen Rhynes and wife Shawna of Salem; his daughters, Wendy Finley of Centralia and Cora Rhynes of Sandoval. He is also survived by his sisters, Glenda Sanders and husband Mike of Centralia, Patricia Berning and husband Jerry of Walnut Hill, and Janet Huffman and husband Jesse of Noble. Billy’s legacy continues with his 20 adored grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family finds solace in knowing that Billy is reunited with the loved ones who preceded him, and they are comforted by the support of friends and relatives.
Per Billy’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no public service will be held. In honor of Billy’s life and service, the family encourages donations to be made to Wounded Warriors, an organization that was dear to his heart .
