Two people received minor injuries in a single-vehicle crash Friday night on Route 37 near the CJ Heck Road intersection south of Salem.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say 22-year-old Austin Unsel of East Bryan in Salem was southbound when his brakes locked up, his car ran into the roadside ditch and overturned on its side.

Initially, Unsel and the passenger, 19-year-old Makayla Kirgan of Main Street in Walnut Hill, were trapped in the vehicle.  However, they had gotten out by the time the Salem Fire Protection District arrived.

The two were checked on the scene by United Medical Response and declined hospital treatment.

The crash occurred at 8:13 Friday night.
