John Stanley Yoder, II, age 77 of Carlyle, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese on Thursday, January 16, 2025.

Mr. Yoder was born in Hickory, North Carolina, the son of John Stanley and Elizabeth (Cline) Yoder.  He married Marilyn A. Miller on August 12, 1988, and she survives in Carlyle.

In addition to his wife Marilyn, Mr. Yoder is also survived by his children – John Stanley Yoder, III (Stephanie) of Summerville, NC, Kyle Yoder (Betsy) of Annandale, VA, Nathaniel Yoder (Sherry) of Mascoutah, IL, Ryan Voss (Jill) of Aviston, Andrea Arter (Jeff) of Aviston, and Jenn Voss of Aviston; his beloved grandchildren – CJ and Chloe Yoder, Courtney, Kaitlyn, and Kim Yoder, Julia Yoder, Grady Yoder, Cole Bornhop, Owen and Zach Arter, Quinton Voss, and Archer and Alden Voss; a great-granddaughter, Axyl Yoder; a sister, Glenda Moseley (Robert); his mother-in-law, Louise Miller; a sister-in-law, Karen Fischer; his in-laws, David and Mary Miller, and Jeff Miller and Carla Gerrish; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Yoder was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth Yoder, and his father-in-law, Gilbert Miller.

John dedicated 32 years of his life to serving his country in the United States Air Force before transitioning to civil service at Scott Air Force Base.  His support of the military continued through his volunteer work with the Vietnam Veterans of America.  John was also active with the Shriner’s, and a member of the Methodist faith.

John loved his family dearly and always looked forward to spending time with his 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  He loved cheering at sporting events, supporting school activities, celebrating birthdays and milestones, and hosting countless sleepovers.  John was an artisan at heart, and he channeled his creativity into making canes, and gourds into intricate works of art. John made a train table and he spent countless hours with his grandchildren watching trains chug around the track.
