Ricky Lee Pearce, 62, of Rushville passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 14 at 3:20 p.m. at Mount Sterling Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mount Sterling, Ill.

Rick was born April 19, 1962, in Centralia, Ill to Mary and Richard Pearce. He married Tracy Lyn Maxfield on August 4, 1984, in Centralia, IL. She survives, along with his mother, his son, Jared (Sarah) Pearce of Rushville, daughter Shea Pearce (David Crow) of Texas, grandsons Atticus and Sawyer Pearce, with another grandchild on the way, his brother, Gary Pearce (Marcia) of North Carolina and sister, Cindy Hayes (David) of Centralia. He was preceded in death by his father.

Rick devoted his life to the ministry until his death, working as the lead pastor of Sandoval Baptist Church in Sandoval, IL, bringing the word of God to countless souls over the years and growing youth programming in the church. He continued praying with residents during his retirement.

He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, loved music by The Beach Boys, and enjoyed working on classic cars in his youth. He worked many jobs, ranging from satellite dish installation to a job as a rehabilitation counselor. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in special education from Western Governors University. He enjoyed working on projects in his house with his children and watching old black-and-white movies, especially ones featuring Jimmy Stewart. He loved spending time playing with his grandchildren.

Private services will be held. Cremation rites have been accorded.
