The Salem City Council Tuesday night will be asked to approve a land lease option for a solar project on the shuttered city landfill on the southeast side of town.
The council received two bids and the city staff is recommending the proposal from AC Power. At an earlier presentation, the council was told the solar panels could be placed on the former landfill site without causing damage to the covering.
The council will be asked to approve the purchase of a new pump to remove water from the US 50 East railroad underpass during heavy rains. The current pump has failed to operate several times and its replacement is budgeted. A pump from Hydro Kinetics for $15,000 is being recommended because it matches the existing wiring harnesses.
The council will be asked to replace another pump at the water treatment plant from Municipal Equipment at a cost of $28,111.
A request will be made to appropriate $215,000 in motor fuel tax funds to cover the cost of this summer’s oil and chipping program.
Mayor Nic Farley is requesting the number of authorized liquor licenses in each of the license categories be lowered to the number of licenses actually in use.
The meeting begins at six Tuesday night at Salem City Hall. The meeting is one day later than usual due to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.
