In junior high girls basketball regional championship on Saturday, Casey Mount Vernon lost at home to visiting Hamilton County 50-40 in Class L. In Class M, Nashville beat Pinckneyville at Steeleville 52-13. Tomorrow in Class S, Trinity St Johns Nashville will play the hosts at St Johns Lutheran Red Bud.
The Class M State Tournament is set. Friday is the Class M opening round with Nashville and Breese at Rend Lake College at 3:30 followed by Smithton and Fairfield, then Anna and Aviston followed by Unity Point and St Clare O’Fallon.
The Class L State Tournament is Saturday. Carterville opens with Waterloo at 9:30 followed by Marion and Wolf Branch, then Wesclin and Mt Carmel followed by Hamilton County and DuQuoin.
