Dog Kennel damage by fire in Centralia

By Bruce Kropp Jan 12, 2024 | 6:29 PM

A 20-by-40-foot dog kennel building was damaged by fire in Centralia late Thursday night.

The fire appears to have started around the wood burning flu of the building at 1607 South Pine owned by Tammy Collinsworth.

Firemen say the fire was confined to the attic area around the flu with only minor smoke damage to the rest of the structure.  There were no dogs in the area of the fire and no injuries.

Most of the building will still be useable before repairs are made to the fire damage.

All available Centralia City Firefighters were joined by the Centralia Fire Protection District in fighting the fire.

The fire was first reported around 11:30 Thursday night by someone who knocked on Collinsworth’s door and told her the kennel was on fire.   Firemen were on the scene for about two hours.
