The City of Centralia issued building permits totaling $9,579,244 in 2023.
The largest permits were for $2.8-million apiece for new gym additions at Jordan and Centralia Junior High School. A $260,000 permit was approved for the new T-mobile building at 1320 Walton Way.
Four solar arrays were in the top 11 projects of the year, they include Intermountain Electronics, Schiller and Jordan Schools, and for the Macz Irvin Funeral home.
Other top projects of the year include a permit for a $250,000 home in the 1900 block of Shook Lane, placement of a $166,777 manufactured home in the 600 block of East 7th, a permit for a new home being constructed by the Centralia High School buildings trade class with a value of $145,000, and a building valued at $110,000 at Castle Ridge.
In all permits were issued for nine new homes, including five stick built, two manufactured, and two mobile homes. They have a total value of $797,957.
There were permits for 21 additions with a total value of $270,543. $112,500 of that amount was for additions to commercial buildings.
There were a total of 17 demolition permits issued during the year.
In December, the City of Centralia issued 19 building permits totaling $245,402. The largest was a $62,694 solar array in the 600 block of Rhodes Street. The permit was one of six issued for solar arrays during the month. The rest were for signs, installation of portable buildings, and fences. One demolition permit was issued. It was awarded to Centralia Help;ing Hands for 1600 South Hickory Street.
