Centralia Mayor and Liquor Commissioner Bryan Kuder has decided NOT to suspend, terminate or revoke the liquor license of Ramey’s Centralia House Restaurant.

Kuder held a hearing last week on his proposed revocation based on the restaurant not being open the past 30 days. City ordinance requires the pulling of a liquor license if the business is not active for 30 days. Kuder had taken a decision under advisement at that time.

Owner Danny Ramey testified at the hearing the reason for the closure was extensive storm damage that occurred in July that he has been working to get repaired. He noted delays in getting answers from the insurance company and getting contractors. However, during that time work he says work has been underway to clean up and repair water damage.

Ramey said the historic building on North Oak in downtown Centralia sustained more than $100,000 damage to the roof, walls, and to the interior from water damage. He notes he has not discontinued any services in anticipation of reopening.

Kuder also ordered in his decision that the licensee not violate any ordinance of the City of Centralia or any laws of the Liquor Control Act. He said the city also reserves the right to inspect the premises for safety and fire concerns according to BOCA National Building and Fire Prevention Codes.
