2024 11/30 – Glenn C. Benjamin

Glenn C. Benjamin, age 53 of Odin, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Glenn was born on September 23, 1971, in Salem, Illinois the son of Darrell Sr. and Margaret (Hestand) Benjamin. Survivors include his mother, Margie Benjamin; siblings, Darrell Benjamin Jr. (Amy), Michael Benjamin, Brandy Benjamin (Scott), Ronnie Ham (Janeen), Troy Ham (Sandy), and Billy Ham (Tonya); kids, Ricky Dobyns (Taylor), Brittany Murray (Joel), and Todd Murray II; grandchildren, Marah Johnson, Kaiden Murray, and KJ, Kai, and Kruz Dobyns; girlfriend, Pam Hammond and her daughters, Hayley, Maycey, and Ryley; and nieces and nephews, Derek, Alea, Alyssa, Alexis, Allison, and Abigail; He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Benjamin Sr. and his stepmother, Judy Benjamin.

Glenn honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. Glenn was loved by many and a helper to all. He worked for several years at RP Lumber where he was a District Manager. He was an Odin High School baseball standout pitcher, and was inducted into the Odin High School Sports Hall of Fame in the spring of 2024. He enjoyed golfing, motorcycles, cooking on his smoker, but most of all spending time with his family and friends.

The funeral service for Glenn C. Benjamin will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Noon at the Grace Church of the Nazarene in Salem with Trent Ice officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin. There will be a visitation held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Casual dress is appreciated by those in attendance. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the family and will be received at the church or at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.
