An investigation is underway into the death of a 53-year-old Centralia woman who was found dead on the front porch of a home in the 1200 block of South Cherry Street early Wednesday morning.

Centralia Police say they received a 911 call from the boyfriend of the woman that she was unconscious in the front of the residence.

Centralia Police and Fire as well as Lifestar Ambulance all responded with Clinton County Coroner Phil Moss later being called to the scene.

Centralia Police Lieutenant Steve Whritenour said it was apparent on arrival the woman had passed away.  She had apparently been brought outside the home to the porch.

Centralia Fire and Ambulance had received a medical call to the home around ten Tuesday morning.    However, they were not allowed to go into the home with an ambulance crew only able to talk to the woman through a window before emergency crews left the scene.   Centralia Police had not been called to the original incident.

Whritenour says the case has been turned over to Illinois State Police Zone 8 investigations.  A spokesman for State Police say the investigation is in its infancy and no further information is available at this time.
