Races have developed in two of the five Marion County Board Districts during the first day of filing.
Both Cody Rose and David Jourdan were on hand to file petitions for the one open seat in County Board District Four at the start of filing Monday morning. The two Republicans will face off to fill the seat currently held by Steven Bradley who has told WJBD-WSIQ news he would not seek re-election. A lottery drawing to determine first position on the ballot will be held on Tuesday, December 12th at 9:30 am.
Republican Brock Waggoner was also on hand to file at eight Monday morning to seek re-election to his District One seat.
Later in the day on Monday, three Republicans filed in District Two. They are incumbent Dr. Creighton Engel as well as Salem Veterinarian Dr. Michael Douglas and ESDA Coordinator Sheri Brooks-Barter. It appears if Brooks-Barter wins the board seat she’d have to step down as ESDA Coordinator since the county board controls the funding for the agency.
Other seats open on the county board are those currently held by Tracy Murray in District One, Steve Whritenour and Bill Henson in District Three and David Iossi in District Five.
Filing continues through next Monday afternoon at the Marion County Clerk’s Office.
