A 36-year-old Salem man sustained a minor hand injury when a deer jumped through the front windshield of the Rent One delivery van he was driving on Saturday morning.

Salem Police say the crash occurred on Route 37 by the Bryan Memorial Park Statue.

The driver, 36-year-old Bradley Landreth of West Kell in Salem, along with a passenger were out of the vehicle when police arrived, but the deer was alive and still inside.

Landreth was taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.  The passenger was not hurt.

Police got the deer out of the vehicle, but it sustained a broken leg and after being tracked had to be put down.

The crash occurred at 9:24 on Saturday morning.
