Odin Police are investigating a fight in the 100 block of North Merritt Street in Odin Friday night that sent one person to the hospital for treatment of head and shoulder injuries. The initial report indicated a 35-year-old Odin man was unconscious following the altercation, but he was able to talk to police upon their arrival. He was reportedly bleeding from the head and thought his shoulder may be broken. Police are seeking a suspect in the case.
Salem Fire Protection District Firemen were called to a grass fire in the median of I-57 two miles north of the Salem exit late Friday morning. The fire covered about a quarter of an acre. The blaze was extinguished without any damage, but firemen say it was spreading smoke across the highway. The call came in at about 11 on Friday morning.
