A 31-year-old Centralia man is being held in the Marion County Jail following a vehicle and foot chase that began late Thursday night.
Lamar Bennett of East Kerr was arrested for aggravated fleeing and eluding police, armed habitual criminal, armed violence, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in a vehicle, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of cannabis, manufacture or delivery of 10 to 30 grams of cannabis, and resisting a peace officer.
Bennett reportedly abandoned his vehicle near Gregg and Lincoln and attempted to run on foot. He was taken into custody with the assistance of one of Centralia’s canines. Bennett was treated for a bite injury to the head before being transported to the Marion County Jail.
Further details have not yet been released by Centralia Police.
