A 41-year-old Salem man has been arrested by Salem Police on three sex charges involving a single girl who was 13 when the incidents allegedly began two years ago.
Alejandro Maines-Sosa of North Broadway was taken to the Marion County Jail on a no-bond warrant for criminal sexual assault. He was also arrested on new offenses of criminal sexual assault to a girl 13 to 17 years old and aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a juvenile between 13 but less than 18 over which he held a position of trust, authority, or supervision.
Salem Police Detective Tyler Rose said the incidents were first reported to police in May by the girl and the girl’s father. During the investigation that followed, the suspect and several family members were interviewed along with the girl by the Amy Center staff.
After the warrant was issued Wednesday, Salem Police went to Maines-Sosa’s home to take him into custody. His mother refused to allow entry even though police initially saw him through a window. They eventually entered the residence with the arrest warrant and reportedly found Maines-Sosa hiding in the basement covered up. After being located, police say he offered no resistance.
