Odin Mayor Greg Smith is encouraging Odin residents to take advantage of the village’s leaf vacuum.
Smith says from now until December 15th, residents can rake their leaves to curbside for pickup. He reports village crews will keep an eye out for piles of leaves and will pick them up on weekdays.
The Odin Village Board Thursday night approved an engineering agreement with Milano and Grunloh Engineering of Effingham to prepare plans for a waterline that would connect the Salem side of the Odin water system to the Gateway Regional Water System.
The board voted last month to move forward with the line to eventually supply the side of their system served by Salem because the water will be less expensive to purchase.
Smith says residents on the Salem side of the system will also be getting a survey to determine if they fit in the low or moderate income category. Any grant dollars available for the construction project will be based on the number of low to moderate income residents that would be served.
The board appointed a committee to develop an employee handbook.
Full time Odin Village employees will be getting a $500 Christmas bonus. Part time workers will get a $250 bonus.
