Marion County Fair Queen Kaitlyn Banning is hosting a Princess S”tea”m Party for young girls in 2nd through 4th grade on Sunday, November 19th, at the Marion County Fairgrounds.

STEAM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education.

Princess participants will enjoy a tea party as well as take part in fun science experiments.

Queen Kaitlyn is currently a biomedical engineering student at University of Missouri and wants to encourage young girls to be anything they want to be, especially queens of STEAM!”

“I know personally I never thought about going into the STEAM field until I got until to college.  I was thinking of a whole lot of different options and I knew I liked math and science so I thought I would give engineering a try.  And being one of just 5 girls out of 200 students is overwhelming and I want to encourage girls that they can do it too.”

There will be 2 sessions, 1:00-3:30 and 3:45-6:15. The cost is $20 per princess and will be collected on the day of the event with all proceeds going to the local Sleep In Heavenly Peace chapter.

Those interested can sign up at the Facebook event Queen Kaitlyn’s Royal S’tea’m Party or at www.missmarioncounty.com. Spots are limited so signing up is important! Please sign up by Friday, November 17th. Princess dresses are encouraged but not required.

If you don’t have a princess and would like to donate or help sponsor the event, you may contact Queen Kaitlyn by emailing her at kaitlynsfl14@gmail.com.
