The state volleyball championships were held over the weekend. Mater Dei won the school’s 8th state title beating IC Catholic in the 2a finals 25-21, 25-22. Addie Nenninger was named the Class 2A Most Valuable Player and teammate Elyse Strader named All Tournament.
Carmi lost in the 3rd place game to Rock Falls in 3 sets.
St Anthony won the 1a 3rd place match in their first ever trip to the state tournament beating Cissna Park 25-14, 23-25, 25-23. Galena won the state title over Hartsburg.
Wheaton St Francis is the 3a state champion beating Lincoln. St Ignatius Prep won the 3rd place game over Morton.
In 4a, Mother McAuley beat Lisle Benet Academy in the championship. Willowbrook won 3rd place over Barrington.
