An 81-year-old Kinmundy man was injured in a single vehicle crash on the Selmaville Road southwest of Salem early Monday night.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports 81-year-old William Stage of South Lincoln was southbound on the Selmaville Road when his truck stalled as he tried to shift gears when turning onto Bryant Lane. Before he could get the truck started, it was hit by an SUV driven by 73-year-old Marcia Kretzer of Burge Road in Centralia.
Kretzer told deputies the truck came out of nowhere and she couldn’t stop in time. Stage indicated he had been having trouble with the clutch of his truck prior to the crash.
Stage was transported to the Salem Township Hospital emergency room by United Medical Response.
The crash occurred at 6:27 Monday night.
