Week 2 of IHSA Playoff football is in the books. In 1a, Althoff dominated LeRoy 56-20, Casey lost to Greenfield 16-14 and Sesser Valier beat Salt Fork 32-8. This week Althoff is at Camp Point Central and Sesser hosts Greenfield.
In 2a, Carter Murphy scored 3 times, two on TD receptions and another pick-six to help lead Mater Dei to a 27-18 win at home over Johnston City. Trenton Zeeb threw for 3 touchdowns. Red Bud lost to Athens, Nashville beat Quincy Notre Dame 27-18 and Vandalia lost to Shelbyville 36-13. This week, Nashville hosts Athens and Mater Dei is at Shelbyville.
In 3a, Greenville lost to Olympia 40-20, Mt Carmel over Sullivan 42-21, Roxana nipped St Joseph Ogden 48-47 and DuQuoin lost to Tolono Unity 35-25. This week, Roxana is at Olympia and Mt Carmel goes to Tolono Unity.
In 4a, Breese Central held off a late Mt Zion run to beat the Braves 16-13. Murphysboro ended Charleston’s season 14-13. Harrisburg over Peoria Notre Dame 27-22. This week, Harrisburg hosts Murphysboro and Breese Central goes to Rochester.
In 5a, Highland advances beating Metamora 41-36, Triad loses to Joliet Catholic 56-7. This week, Highland is at Providence Catholic.
In 6a, East St Louis flew past Normal West 54-7. They will play at Kankakee this week in the state quarterfinals.
In 7a, Collinsville lost to Lincoln-Way West 43-19.
In 8a, Edwardsville beat Glenbard West 48-14. They will travel to Elmhurst York this weekend.
