The Salem Community High School Student Council annual canned food drive begins Monday and continues through November 20th.

Student Council Sponsor Matt Donoho says they hope to top last year’s collection of 25,394 cans of food.

“This is one of the Food Pantry’s biggest collection event that they have and Salem Community High School is always happy to rise to the occasion.  Its something we at the school like to do because it’s an excellent way to show the students that every little bit helps.  All of our students can chip in something from going door to door, to donating or collecting money.”

The students then help transport all the food collected to the Salem Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry in time for the holiday season.

The can food drive is also a competition between home room classes. The winning class will receive a pizza party.

Donoho quips this is something everyone in the student body ‘can’ do.
