Detweiler Park in Peoria was the site Saturday for the IHSA Cross Country State Championships.

Christ Our Rock senior Sarah McKowen had her best race of her career running a personal best time of 18:20.6 and finishing 29th out of 199 runners in the Girls 1a race narrowly missing All State Honors by just 4 spots.

The girls 1a team champ was Tolono Unity with Anna Jonesboro 2nd.  St Anthony freshman Isabella Keller was the individual champion.

Chatham Glenwood won the 2a state title, Mt Zion was 5th and Waterloo 9th.  Lincoln’s Becca Heitzig was the state champ .05 seconds ahead of the runner up.  Waterloo’s Cameron Crump was 10th.

York won the 3a girls title.  Scout Storms of Barrington was the individual champ.

In the 1A boys race, Christ Our Rock senior Elijah Gregory finished 99th out of 256 runners and ran :37 faster than last year at State his junior year.

Tuscola won the boys team title in 1a with 97 points followed by Benton with 104 and then Elmwood.  Pinckneyville was 10th.  Individually Gavin Genisio of Benton was the state champ followed by Pinckneyville’s Isaac Teel.  Benton’s Gabriel McLain was 4th.

The 2a boys team champ was Marion with 112 followed by Glenbard South and Chicago Payton.  Marion’s Dylon Nalley repeated as state champ running 14:05.20, 16 seconds faster than the runner up.

In the 3a boys race, Downers Grove North was the champion with O’Fallon 5th.  The Panthers Dylan Ybarra was 4th individually.
