Salem Mayor Nic Farley proclaimed Friday as “Martin McCormick Appreciation Day”.
The honor came on McCormick’s 80th birthday.
He is still a city employee working as a custodian for Salem City Hall and the Salem Police Department. McCormick was a long-time employee of Kerasotes Theater before they closed. He’s also assisted the city with theater projects after Kerasotes donated the theater to the city.
The Salem Police Department also surprised McCormick with the purchase of two seats to be engraved at the Salem Theater in his name.
