Illinois State Police say two pedestrians were killed when walking on US 50 near Big Four Road in Clay County early Sunday night.
The preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle traveling eastbound struck two pedestrians walking in the roadway after their vehicle became disabled in the westbound lane.
Both pedestrians were pronounced deceased on the scene by the Clay County Coroner.
The driver of the vehicle, along with two passengers, reported no injuries on the scene.
The names of those involved have not been released.
Illinois State Police are continuing its investigation. The crash occurred at 7:08 on Sunday night.
