The Salem Community Thanksgiving Dinner will return for an eighth year on Saturday, November 11th.

The event will once again be held at the Apostolic Church at 1600 Mills Cart Road in Salem. And again this year, dinners will also be prepared to be taken to the Centralia Community Youth Center at 1224 East Rexford in Centralia.

The Community Dinner is hosted in partnership with Saved with Amazing Grace, the Apostolic Church and the Marion County YMCA.

One of those who has helped the dinner grow over the years is Chris Watkins of Saved with Amazing Grace.

“We went from 420 meals to 1700 meals.  That blessing is all because of the community.  We couldn’t do it without number 1 God, and the community that helps put out over 1000 meals we have to deliver.  I couldn’t be happier with our community.”

The dinner will be served and delivered between ten and two on Saturday, November 11th.

Once again this year, there is a blanket drive underway to provide those in need with a blanket for the upcoming winter weather. New, packaged blankets are now being accepted at the Apostolic Church, Country Creek Treasures, Salem Dollar General, Salem Township Hospital, Rural King, People’s State Bank, Iuka State Bank, 6:10 Coffee Company, Yardley Automotive and Salem Wal-Mart.

Blankets need to be donated prior to the November 11th Community Thanksgiving Dinner.

To set up any meal deliveries or blanket donations, you may contact the Apostolic Church at 548-3438 or 630-362-7460 or contact Country Creek Treasures at 214-3376.
