The Salem Wildcats have had an up and down season, but coming off their most complete game of the year in their 3-1 regional opening win at Olney, the Cats are playing with free money today as they travel to Effingham for their 2a semifinal matchup against Nationally ranked Triad. The Knights are the top seed in the Sectional and are #24 in the country. They have just one loss on their season, a late season loss to St Louis University High. Game time today is at 4pm with the 2nd semifinal of Highland and Effingham to follow.
Also in 2a regional semifinals today, Althoff takes on Jerseyville at Civic Memorial followed by the hosts and Mascoutah. At Waterloo, Mount Vernon plays the hosts followed by Anna Jonesboro and Centralia.
Class 1A regional championships continue today. Father McGivney hosts Columbia, Murphysboro hosts Breese Central.
