The Salem Wildcats will play for their playoff lives on Friday night when they travel to Freeburg to take on the Midgets who will be in the same boat. Both teams enter at 4-3 on the season with Salem’s Week 9 opponent significantly tougher in 5-2 Charleston, than Freeburg who will play 3-4 Waterloo in Week 9.
The winner Friday will also finish 3rd in the very tough Cahokia Conference Mississippi Division behind champion Roxana and runner up Breese Central. The Cats defense will need to stop the Midgets who have scored 204 points on the year for an average of just over 29 points per game. Salem is scoring 27 points per game while giving up 31. The Midgets defense allows about 25. So it’s a very close matchup with everything to play for.
