Marcella Hall, 99, of Centralia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at her home.
She was born December 26, 1924, of Pinckneyville, Illinois, the daughter of Oliver Henry Klingenberg and Anna Justina (Guenther) Klingenberg. She married Kenneth N. Hall in November of 1951 and he preceded her in death on April 13, 1970.
Left to mourn her passing are her children: Donna Collier and husband Mike of Odin, Marsha Nichols of Centralia, Patty Long and husband Gary of Centralia, and Samuel “Sam” D. Hall of Centralia; nine grandchildren: Michelle Klinger and husband Kelly, Matthew Collier and wife Tawny, Kimberly Contreras, Lucy Nichols, Joe Chumley, Nick Hall, Sammy Musgrove, Brook Hall, and Taylor Hall; thirteen great-grandchildren: Quentin, Collin, Ian, Savannah, Manuel, Marcela, Cruz, Carson, Blakely, Cameron, Bentley, Novalee, and Kailan; one great-great-granddaughter: Adalynn Kay; daughter-in-law: Linda Hall of Tennessee; sister-in-law: Marjorie Klingenberg; a special cousin: Judy Hartnell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons: Chuck Hall and Kenny Hall, great-grandson: Alic Collier, two brothers: Robert Klingenberg and Dean Klingenberg, and four sisters: Norma Dunn, Arlene Neer, Lucille Hill, and Shirley McCrary.
Marcella worked as a telephone operator for 33 years with Illinois Bell until her retirement. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan.
Marcella was a very active volunteer for many organizations. She was the past President of the Centralia American Legion Auxiliary, past President and District President of the Centralia V.F.W. Auxiliary, worked at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital as a Pink lady, member of the 8 and 40, and the Telephone Pioneers. She had a heart of gold and was very Patriotic. Marcella loved her family and she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 pm until the time of service at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to V.F.W.
