On Saturday September 23rd at 7:00pm, Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling (SICW) will return to the Sandoval High School in a benefit for the Sandoval Athletic Fund. SICW, promoted by Herb Simmons, has held events throughout Southern Illinois and Missouri. The theme for SICW is to continue the traditions of St. Louis Wrestling, specifically Wrestling at the Chase. The special event at Sandoval will feature several matches including the Main Event, billed as the Rage in the Cage, a steel cage match with the Allied Independent Wrestling Federation (AIWF) World Heavyweight Champion the Golden Boy Greg Anthony defending his title against the 450 pound monster, Kowalski. The event will also feature St. Louis Classics Champion the Big Texan, the Central States Heavyweight Champion Bobby D, Night Train Gary Jackson, the vicious Canadian Sean Vincent and his enforcer Big Nasty Glenn Williams, the exciting tag team the Top Guns, Brandon Barretta and Joe Dima and so many more SICW superstars.
Event organizer and SICW referee Bill Henson, who also serves as the school social worker believes this event has brought a lot of interest to the community and excitement to the school body who will greatly benefit from the proceeds raised. The school, which co-ops sports with Odin and Patoka will use these funds for equipment, travel, and other miscellaneous expenses. Tickets are on sale at the BP Convenience Store in Sandoval and Sandoval High School main office.
A mission of SICW throughout the years has been to help organizations raise funds for their events along with the monthly shows. Through this, SICW is responsible for tens of thousands of dollars being raised for local organizations, first responders and many other groups.
