A Sandoval school bus driver who wanted to do something for the kids has put together a big celebration on Trick or Treat night in Sandoval which will be held on Friday night, October 27th.

Larry Prichard came before the Sandoval Village Board Tuesday night to get its approval to use the park and to close one of the streets adjoining the park.

Prichard and Pre-K aid Amanda Winters who rides the Pre-K bus with Prichard as part of her duties say they have found a lot of support from the business community as well as the school staff and student council to help bring the idea to reality.

“I ask for a little bit of help donation from some of the local bars and stuff in town and it has just totally skyrocketed.  With everybody wanting to help out with donations, the Trunk or Treat, or cook and serve.”

Prichard says 700 hotdogs and buns have been donated and they will be served beginning at five that evening. He’s then inviting the community to join the effort with a Trunk or Treat that will take place during the six to eight Trick or Treat hours.

“Anyone who wants to decorate their trunk and come up, sit and give out candy….these days some people are a little leery of giving out candy at their home, but this gives them a place they can come and still see the kids, interact with them as they pass out candy.  Those who decorate we will have a cash prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.”

Prichard hopes to complete the evening with the showing of a movie in the park. If the event is a success, he’d like to do it annually.

Sandoval Mayor Pam Gelsinger and board members commended Prichard for putting on the event.
